About Our Water Resources Consulting Firm

Civil Engineers Inc. (CEI) is a water resources consulting firm that can provide professional engineering services for any phase of infrastructure and environmental projects. From grant applications to construction completion, we can efficiently move a project from start to finish, at whatever level suits your needs. CEI has successfully obtained grants for our clients from organizations such as CMI, MDEQ, EPA, Rural Development, and Community Foundations. We commonly prepare concept and preliminary designs for client approval prior to creating final designs and bid documents. Construction engineering, such as daily inspections, pay requests, change orders, and progress meetings are typical services for us. CEI often helps “trouble shoot” problems with existing systems and is involved with management plans such as wellhead protection and watersheds.

CEI performs a wide variety of projects for municipal and private clientele. We commonly engineer road improvement, sewer and water extension, stormwater treatment, and wastewater treatment projects sometimes using unique and innovative ideas such as constructed wetland treatment. Other common projects include subdivisions, county drains, wetland mitigation, small bridges, wellhead protection, water reliability studies, utility master plans, mapping, environmental permitting, site plan review, feasibility studies, and much more.

Our History

Civil Engineers Inc. has been in business since 1993 and was started with the assets from several other firms. The purchase of Hatfield Engineering included records from Dekyser and Associates which gave us engineering records for many communities in Southern Michigan dating back to the early 1900’s. We have also obtained engineering records from Crane Land Surveying who purchased the assets of King, Ryan and Associates. CEI was founded by Randy A. Ramsey, P.E. who has been providing engineering services to Southern Michigan since 1983.
